‘Kong: Skull Island’ Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts Does His Own Honest Trailer (VIDEO)

The closer we get to the end of 2017, the more I think Kong: Skull Island was one of the better theater-going experiences I had this year. It wasn't a great movie, but it wasn't really trying to be one either. It had all manner of issues, but if you don't believe me, just take the director's word for it...

In a first for Screen Junkies' beloved Honest Trailers, the director of the film dropped by to offer up his own critique on his work, and it's honestly a lot harsher than you would think. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts—who has a number of directing credits prior to Kong, including the micro-budget indie The Kings of Summer—interrupts the film's Honest Trailer to rewrite the script and extoll upon the virtues of film criticism.

It's an entertaining watch, even if you didn't like the film. I imagine many of the same issues you had with the film are illuminated by Vogt-Roberts himself, so at least give him points for knowing his film's own shortcomings. It's also helpful to remember that for a film that could've been all set-up for the inevitable Kong and Godzilla showdown, we were lucky to get something this entertaining in the bargain.
